Paul Gudgin

Paul has had a broad career as a conductor, singer, trombone player and festival manager.

He studied music at the University of Surrey where he was a choral scholar with Guildford Cathedral Choir. He has continued a strong association with the world of Cathedral music singing regularly with the cathedral choirs of St Edmundsbury, Ely and St Mary’s Episcopal Cathedral in Edinburgh.

As a choral director Paul has worked with a wide range of ensembles from the Bury St Edmunds Festival Chorus down to small ensembles like the Blythburgh Consort. Paul is the Director of Music at the Robin Chapel, Edinburgh. The Robin Chapel Choir, a small professional ensemble, last year had the honour of performing in Westminster Abbey to mark the arrival of the Stone of Destiny in the week preceding the coronation.

Paul has spent many years managing festivals and venues. These include the Aldeburgh Festival, Durham International Brass Festival, City of London Festival, Queen’s Hall Edinburgh and 8 years as Director of the Edinburgh Festival Fringe.
